DEBORAH AXNESS, LMHC

I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 30 years of experience as a teacher, school counselor, and therapist.  I have worked with individuals, families, and groups across the life span in multiple settings, ranging from hospitals and clinics, schools, in homes, and in private practice. 

While I believe in an integrated approach to therapy, drawing from cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, family systems therapy, trauma informed and analytical therapies, I enjoy working with clients to determine the most effective ways to move forward in resolving presenting issues.  My orientation is informed by psychodynamic and object relations theory and a strong interest in depth psychology, bringing unconscious material into awareness to facilitate change and create meaning. 

My goals for motivated clients involve working together to assist in resolving intrapsychic and interpersonal conflict, and to reduce suffering, encouraging insight, change, and personal growth.
